The Spirit of Halloween
One Halloween, a few summers ago, on an unusually balmy night, one decided to adopt the best spirit of Halloween that one could and dress up as a M.i.D.

Sadly, and most typically, no one understood! And since then disillusionment has crept in. *sigh*

Santosh: No comments about the “tiger” prints on the shirt or the “undraayer” showing below the dhoti? :D

Jillu: I was born in Chennai and spent four years in Thanjavur. That is, I have not lived all my life in New Jersey. :P

Eeeks! You scared me. But why not wrap that white dhoti all over ?

  14. superstarksa http://superstarksa.com

Aparna: The wrapping would kill the kannammapettai effect, no?

There is an unwritten rule (at least in my head) that halloween costume should indicate that some effort has gone about in the making /draping of the costume. You can’t wear a dhoti and expect people to appreciate it. It is simply not done! Had someone covered their face and worn a sari for the halloween, wouldn’t you have cried foul.

  16. anantha http://superstarksa.com

Amethyst: Do you know how hard it is to make that dhoti stay around my waist? And it takes guts wearing a silk shirt with tiger prints in the heart of rural South East Ohio, hundreds of miles from the nearest beach. :D
So, according to you If I had put my head through a cardboard box and gone dressed up as a obnoxious “free mammary examinations booth” (there were five other kids who did that), would that be more appreciated than my under-appreciated MiD? Sad! hehe!

  17. amethyst

Are you saying that the shirt is not one of your regular wear?! :-)

  18. alpha http://alpha-2.blogspot.com

    wearing shorts is cheating!

  19. amethyst

    yes alpha. couldn’t agree more

  20. superstarksa http://superstarksa.com

Amethyst: I don’t wear silk shirts with tiger prints on a day to day basis. And I wore that shirt once that day and have not worn it ever after. And why are you ganging up with Alpha? She’s a trouble maker, you know? Are you one, too?

Alpha: Have you seen Raj Kiran movies? Or have you been in Kannammapettai at least? This is standard wear there - Veshti folded half to hips with undraayer showing!

annachi, kannamma pettai effect-kku lungi-na kattanum:-)
