Karthik: There was a reason why I did not link to your blog. This was not personal (the post title was a fluke and I mean no offense either) at all.
If you are telling me that the trash I see online does not find a place in the paper version, that’s good.
But coming from a newspaper that is so Chennai centric otherwise, I can’t figure out this Hollywood trash strategy at all, even if pageviews are what you are looking for. And you don’t have to explain what you mean by that. I am a contributor in a number of different blogs, which even though are not for any profit, we still need to get some money from adsense etc. to pay for hosting.
Honestly I wouldn’t have batted an eyelid if the gossip was Kollywood (though I have to draw a line on those photo galleries) or even Bollywood related. Some of the people being gossiped about might be virtually unknown in India (at least I think so).

I am very much the person incharge of the website, and let me assure you that most of what you liked – in saapad, first innings (saapad) and lifestyle sections – are what find place prominently in the tabloid – in fact starting soon, we will hosting readable low-res pdfs.

Regarding the trash you see on the website, yes I am wholly responsible for putting them online though there is someone else incharge of uploading the stories. Most of them are not seen on the tabloid.

It so happened that “those” kind of uploads were on for a brief while, as I was curious to see indeed what drove up our pageviews – shameless, you can argue, but hey i have a job to do … this is something I cannot explain in length but is a fact that stares anyone who runs a media site on their face.

Jillu: I know it’s Karthik thats in charge.

However considering that the website design is credited to a company owned by someone who is considered by many as a doyen among Chennai bloggers and that the “Editor, Publisher and Printer” for Ergo used to be a notable Chennai blogger at one point (if it’s the same person!), I am appalled.

In sum, are you really recommending Ergo to everyone then? You alone must have accounted for 100 page views, given the number of lnks you have in this post. You even googled Gemma Molloy..

I am concluding that you really liked Ergo but are just too shy to say so
