F.I.A – You suck!
Apparently,
Article 152 of the International Sporting Code states that drive-through penalties are “not susceptible to appeal”.

But why the fuck would the F.I.A wait for two weeks, schedule a hearing for an appeal, go ahead with it and THEN rule that the appeal is inadmissible because the original penalty was ineligible for an appeal?
Oh wait. Don’t we all know that the F in FIA stands for a certain competitor’s of McLaren (who shall remain un-named) and A stands for ass-lickers? Now it all makes sense!
Jokes apart, wouldn’t this rule mean that any drive-through penalty that the race stewards hand out cannot be overturned later to adjust final standings? Considering how it affected the final race standings, is this motor racing’s version of the NFL’s inadvertent whistle rule that killed the Chargers against the Broncos last week?

September 23rd, 2008 at 2:58 pmI don’t have much to say on the FIA, but I really think the penalty, in itself, was justified. IIRC, on any chicane-cutting incident, the driver gives back the lead and stays back until the next corner. That used to happen quite a number of times at that chicane in Monaco right outside the tunnel and drivers back off till the next corner. In Spa, Hamilton had the entire straight till he hit the first corner and he just pushed past Kimi after a veiled backing-off gesture. Total OB.
Fortunately, I find both decisions perfectly fine because they worked out for me
. (a) You screw Kimi, the FIA screws you and (b) That call gave me an 8-pt advantage in an FF game I won by 2 points.

From Autosports.com,
But the problem is, this so called clarification of the cutting chicane rule came after the incident.
From the same article,
McLaren’s appeal inherently was based on what drivers knew before/during the race and not a week after the race. Besides Mclaren filed the appeal based on what they heard via radio soon after they instructed Hamilton to cede the lead back to Kimi. Apparently the stewards indicated not once but twice that they were satisfied with Hamilton. Only then was Hamilton instructed to start racing Kimi again.
So effectively, McLaren is being punished by the FIA for a screwup by their (FIA’s) own officials.

October 10th, 2008 at 6:44 amI agree the FIA should all be wearing red boiler suits to match their favourite team. Next thing we’ll hear is Lewis braking too early to go into the pit lane and being demoted Jean Todt’s persoanl male escort for the next 5 races
