The mother of all deals

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Looks like the mother of all deals has been signed. No, Microsoft and Apple are not merging. Neither are Toyota and Honda. Rather, it is Google and the Mumbai police that have come together. So if you are a member of the “I hate Salman Khan’s hairless chest” community on Orkut and have in the past went off on a rant there that you want to throw acid on Salman for uttering lines like “Hey, I know you.. you are the tellaphone man!”, it is time for you to leave Orkut now, when you can. I am a weirdo….

Yup, it is official. I think I am weird. Well, I did not believe it when people told me this earlier, but I have lately started to realize that I am actually weird. And this realization has come about by a mixture of introspection and some good old fashioned interpretation of my own dreams.

There is nothing Freudian about my dreams. No naked women and certainly no naked men either. Oh wait hmmm, never mind. Anyway they are certainly not your run of the mill, Kollwoodesque romp around the trees either. But they seem to be interesting. And weird. (more…)

5 Reasons why I choose “Studio 60..” over part of Monday Night Football

* Aaron Sorkin

* I am still hung over after the final season of The West Wing

* I digg Saturday Night Live

* Matthew Perry / Bradley Whitford, among others who are West Wing alums.

* Lines like the ones below that seem so relevant, much like the West Wing plots.

Danny Trip: They want to see you take fewer whacks at Bush and looks like they are getting their wish. So you throw it out.

Matt Albie: … ….

Danny Trip: … …

Matt Albie: Four years later and by the way, I’d be happy to take potshots at the Democrats, if one of them would say or do something..

and monologues like this.

Update: In case you are wondering what Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip is all about, NBC has made available the complete third episode (from last night) here.

Public Service Announcement

Ananthanarayanan Subramanian

This is to inform one and all of the following.

* You jokers would have to first decide where I supposedly landed - Sharjah, Jeddah, Kuwait or in the latest version, New York City

* I have never landed in Sharjah, Jeddah, Kuwait, or in any of New York City’s airports.

* You get your visa for the US before even you take a flight into the US.

* I have never had to wait two hours for a visa.

* My first name is not Anantharaman.

* While some people do call me “Superman”1, my last name is certainly not Subbraman.

* I know this is not a funny post at all, but why can’t you stoke my ego and laugh just a wee bit, you jerks!

1. This led to this blog’s tagline - I am No Superman - mostly because I have this obsessive need to stay out of the limelight.

The K-Jo-Khan effect

If there is a movie that I am waiting to watch (Pudhupettai, Pirates-III and Omkara were three recent flicks that fit this profile), I usually stay away from their reviews, and I wholeheartedly advise everyone else to do this too.

But with a K-Jo directed movie, the risk of reading plot-spoiling reviews is almost negligible. You get to know what would happen in every single frame when you hear a whiff of the plot-line from a random sound-byte that K-Jo “tantalizingly” provides while informing us that it would be a [insert random adjective] movie.

The funniest movie, ever!

I might be a Thalaivar fan, but like Thalaivar himself, I do have a soft corner for Kamal, esspecially in movies where he does not indulge in “assumption of intellect”. And those are his movies I like best. I consider one of these to be the funniest movie ever. It is on Youtube now - in 26 parts. Watch it from here!
Catch my point?
